Purpose of SOPRO
- determination of the place of release of hazardous substances (HS);
- prediction of formation, probable path and time of spreading of HS cloud and the number of personnel potentially located in the affected area;
- notification of personnel and services in case of emergency situations associated with the HS release.
SOPRO Functions
- collection and processing of signals from both individual gas pollution sensors and a gas hazard detection system, as well as a permanent weather station;
- determination of location of the Cloud (HS);
- forecasting and visualization of the spread of the HS Cloud at the AWP. The forecasting is carried out in terms of determining the size, probable path, time of distribution and potential number of personnel who are in the area of spread of the HS Cloud;
- notification of officials in case of emergency situations associated with the release of hazardous substances in the territory of the facility
Objectives of creating SOPRO
- Prevention of personnel loss, prevention of emergencies, as well as minimization of losses and the amount of damage in case of occurrence, due to the efficiency of informing the relevant duty dispatch services, operational dispatch services, emergency rescue services and other services;
- Improvement of the efficiency of informing and reducing the response time of the personnel of the field dispatch services of the facility, municipal services, and emergency response team bodies in the event of a threat or occurrence of emergency situations.
