There are 15 stations in the subway. 14 of these are subsurface, and one, Burevestnik, is a ground roof station. The escalators were mounted at Moskovskaya and Gorkovskaya stations.
There are two operating lines - Avtozavodskaya and Sormovo-Meshcherskaya. The length of the lines is 22.2 km. Both lines are so far serviced by the only depot, “ТCh-1 Proletarskoe”, a second depot is planned to be built for trains of Sormovo-Meshcherskaya line and a third depot is planned to be built in future for promising Nagorny line. It is also connected to the city electric train, the lines of which are accessory to the subway.
The first launch site of Gorky Metro, from Moskovskaya station to Proletarskaya metro station, was opened on November 20, 1985.
